But two years is a long time in the pop biz. After all the fuss over his Britain's Got Talent successor, Susan Boyle, this spring, you'd be forgiven for having let the image of the plump and plucky would-be opera singer slip from your consciousness.
While Boyle is still riding her wave of celebrity – touring in Britain and busily recording a studio album – Potts is doggedly carrying on his music career.
Although it rose briefly to the top of the charts on its release earlier this year, Potts's second album, Passione, didn't generate the same kind of hoopla he previously enjoyed.
