TWO years ago, Paul Potts stood at the edge of the stage at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff wondering what the hell he was doing.

The mobile phone salesman was watching the act on stage before him auditioning for the new ITV show Britain's Got Talent.

The man was whistling bird song while his wife was dancing to it wearing a pink pashmina scarf.

They were getting heavily booed and heckled.

"At that moment I was very close to walking away," Paul now admits.

"I wondered why I was doing it.

"You don't see it as a crossroads at the time, but life can make you take some funny turns. That was one of them."
