Although "The Associates," a comedy series about young lawyers at a Manhattan law firm, only lasted about nine episodes in 1979, one of its memorable scenes involved a palimony case.

A young woman claimed that her live-in relationship with a wealthy man had prevented her from pursuing her own career and that she deserved palimony to compensate for the damage to her career.

This testimony led one of the young attorneys to think that he had found the perfect opening for his wealthy client. He pressed the young woman to tell the court what career she had abandoned. [more]
