The Opera sensation, 37 — who won the reality show last year — went to No1 in the country’s charts after appearing in a phone advert.

Paul has now reached the top chart spot in 20 other countries, besides Germany, with his album One Chance.

The ad for phone giant Telekom shows his first audition for the ITV1 show as he nervously performs in front of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan.
