Paul Potts’ got talent
MANILA, Philippines - The most unlikely-looking opera star drew a standing ovation Wednesday night at the PICC Plenary Hall.
Paul Potts, the former mobile phone store manager who caught the world’s fancy by winning in the reality show “Britain’s Got Talent” with “Nessun Dorma” as his piece, showed he had enough skill and good old charm to last a full opera concert. Even if he lost steam in the latter half of the show.
Opening with the flamboyant Mexican standard “Granada,” Potts rose above the creepy feeling that his voice would crack in the climactic high notes.
