BRITAIN’S Got Talent star Paul Potts said yesterday the “fantastic” people of Port Talbot were behind his decision to splash out £450,000 on a 1930s villa in the steel town.
Although he has performed in places like Sydney, Australia, New York, the Philippines and Barcelona, the singer and his Swansea-born wife Julie-Ann plan to settle in Port Talbot for the rest of their lives.
Potts, 38, was in debt and working as a mobile phone salesman while living in a terraced house in Edward Street, Port Talbot, last year when he won Britain’s Got Talent with his stunning rendition of opera classic Nessun Dorma.
Since then he has been on a money-spinning, globe-trotting tour which has made his name in show business.
