During one between-song moment Monday night at Nokia Theatre, Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts reached for a mug set atop a nearby stool.

"Just like an Englishman," he said. "I have my tea handy."

Such casual quips, not to mention stories about opera, about growing up listening to classical music and about his beloved wife, filled the time that Potts wasn't exercising his operatic tenor. Those asides made him all the more human and endearing.
