Luciano Pavarotti dies

Developing story.

Luciano Pavarotti has passed away.

A lot of news websites (including Google) still says his "Seriously ill".

This news is extremely new.

Rest in peace.

Luciano Pavarotti seriously ill

On September 5, 2007, Italy's AGI news agency reported that Luciano Pavarotti's health has deteriorated and the 71-year-old singer is in a "very serious condition".

Numerous news venues and È TV Antenna Uno television station in Modena, the tenor's home town, reported on September 5 Luciano Pavarotti is unconscious and his kidneys have stopped working. Pavarotti's condition is "very grave," the television said, citing unnamed sources.

In March 2005, Pavarotti underwent neck surgery to repair two vertebrae. In June of the same year, he had to cancel a Three Tenors concert in Mexico due to laryngitis.

In early 2006, he had back surgery and contracted an infection while in the hospital, forcing cancellation of concerts in the U.S., Canada and the UK.

Pavarotti was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July 2006 and required emergency surgery to remove the tumor. Shortly after surgery he was reported to be "recovering well." His remaining appearances for 2006 were canceled because of his ongoing cancer treatment; however, his management stated that it is anticipated that his farewell tour would resume in early 2007.

On Thursday, August 9, 2007, he was hospitalized for observation in his hometown of Modena, in Northern Italy, hospital officials there said. Hospital spokesman Alberto Greco declined to give the reason the 71-year-old tenor was hospitalized, but local daily Il Resto del Carlino reported that it was pneumonia. Announcement of his "imminent release" was made on August 15, 2007, but with no date cited. The report stated that he planned to return to recording his "sacred songs" and teaching his young pupils. On August 21, it was announced that he was being treated on the cancer ward, given tests related to his pancreatic cancer and would not be released for another few days.

Seventies soft rock band America and overnight opera sensation Paul Potts are to perform in Rotorua. In a coup for Rotorua, Grammy Award winners America, who have been making music for 35 years, will perform at the Energy Events Centre on December 14 as part of their Live in Concert tour. The band will also perform in Wellington and Christchurch in December and Rotorua beat Auckland to host a concert on the back of the success of the Glen Campbell concert in March. America, then consisting of Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell and Dan Peek, found fame in 1972 with the song A Horse With No Name.

Paul Potts landed in Sydney Australia.

Potts - from cellphone salesman to opera poppet
August 25, 2007

-----------------------------------------------------------
If Paul Potts wan't such a poppet, I might have been tempted to throttle him. This is because he says the same things, over and over and most of these things he's so fond of saying are platitudes.

"I'm just me," he says, and, "I'm just who I am." He says these things, oh, at least a thousand times and that's not counting all the times he's said them to other people.

Other favourites are, "I just do feel incredibly privileged to be doing what I love doing," and, "I'm just taking one day at a time."

Paul Potts in China 22/8/2007

TV talent winner Paul Potts is in Hong Kong promoting his album One Chance and soon goes on to tour New Zealand and Australia .

The 36 year-old former phone salesman from Port Talbot topped HMV Hong Kong's Classical Chart for three consecutive weeks.

He told Chinese TV station CCTV: "I never dreamed that I would be able to actually find myself on the other side of the world from where I live, doing what I love doing.

“And you know, if somebody told me six months ago that I would be here. I would've told them, you know, get out of here, there is no way on earth that that would happen."

Potts will sing for the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance in early December.

"I am sure that I will do what I normally do, think of it off, and try to think of it in advance. But at the end, I am someone who really doesn't rehearse anything that I say.

“So hopefully, I will say the right thing," said Paul.

He won a TV talent competition. Now he has a new album and is an overnight sensation. He's Paul Potts, winner of "Britain's Got Talent," which is the U.K.'s answer to American idol.

Now the 36 year-old vocalist is in Asia, promoting his debut album. The Album "One Chance," topped HMV Hong Kong's Classical Chart for three consecutive weeks.

Potts astounded both judges and the "Britain's Got Talent" audience when he first sang on the show. His world class operatic voice was an instant hit with viewers who voted for him in droves to win the competition.

The British television show was created by Simon Cowell, the man behind "American Idol".

Since his victory, Potts has become an overnight success not only in Britain, but throughout the United States, Australia and parts of Asia.

The former mobile phone salesman claims he spent most of his life feeling insignificant.

Potts used to perform with the Bath Opera, but fear of rejection always prevented him from trying to make it professionally.

Excerpt from article

Paul Potts is storming to the top of the charts with his debut album, One Chance, which was only released on Monday but is already outselling the rest of the top ten LPs together.

Gennaro Contaldo of record shop chain HMV said: "He is well on course to sell over 100,000 copies this week.

v
"Traditionally this type of album would be released around Mother's Day or Christmas aimed at the gift market, but Paul has obviously built up a big enough following from TV without that kind of marketing.

CD release date postponed to July 30, 2007

Paul Potts CD will be released July 30, 2007.
This is something I expected
It seemed normal to me.

How can one produce massive amount of CDs in one month?
I didn't see that happening.

2 months is still too fast.
I totally understand that there is a delay

Paul Potts domain name on sale on EBay

I saw Paul Potts domain name on sale on Ebay.
It's - PaulPotts(dot)me(dot)uk
It's on sale for about $10K

Yikes... so, what can I do with that domain name?
Can I pretend to be Paul Potts?
Can I pretend to be yet another Paul Potts Official website?
Above practices are practically illegal (not to mention it's unethical)

So, the only thing I can do is to squat on it until I sell it to somebody (just like the current owner's doing).

One more thing.
If Mr. Paul Potts decides to sue me for cybersquatting, I really don't have a case against him. Some people name their pets after their domain names and such... it doesn't work.

The latest case I remember is the Actor Kevin Spacey taking a domain name away from a squatter. It was not even a correct spelling.

Paul Potts CD Too Expensive Pt.2

This is Amazon's price on Paul Potts pre-order CD.

First it was $48.xx
Then it came down to $28.xx - (June 27, 2007)
Then price went back up to $38.xx (June 28, 2007)

Amazon guarantees that you will get the change if price goes down ** by the day of release.

I have a feeling that price will go down "AFTER" the day of release. (wink, wink... business 101).

Also, if you visit different websites, you will notice that they have different title tracks.

This affirms me to sit back and relax for now...
I think it will be entertaining to watch the price going down.

Paul Potts CD Too Expensive :(

Paul Potts CD is now available for pre-order.

Price for one CD is almost $30.00. They will be shipped from England. But $30.00~~!!

That's a lot of money.

One of these days (very soon) the CDs will be available at Best Buy or Wal*Mart for $10.00.

If I buy now at $30.00 will I be helping Mr. Paul Potts?
Am I a bad fan if I buy a CD at discounted price?

The price already came down once.

Amazon had it for about $50.00.

Now they are taking pre-order for about $30.00.

I am in no hurry, the CDs are not out yet.

I'm going to see how things progress.

Last year, I bought an autographed CD from Astrud Gilberto (Girl from Ipanema) for $25.00. You can buy world's most famous opera CD for $10.00.

$28.50 is too much.. price has to go down.

Paul Potts Controversy - Paul answers the critics

There is a controversy over Paul Potts' winning at Britain's Got Talent.

People are saying that Paul never qualified to enter the contest, because Paul Potts was already a professional. In June 19, 2007, Paul answers the critics on exclusive interview by The Sun. BRITAIN’S Got Talent winner Paul Potts last night blasted back at critics who claimed his victory was a SHAM Below is excerpt from The Sun article. "Don't talk out of your arias" Click link for complete article and a lot of pictures. (Paul Potts' baby pictures as well)

thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2007280255,00.html

----------------------------

BRITAIN’S Got Talent winner Paul Potts last night blasted back at critics who claimed his victory was a SHAM. The thrilled Carphone Warehouse worker bagged a £100,000 prize and a slot at the Royal Variety Performance with his sensational operatic performances. But his ITV triumph, watched on Sunday by 12.6million, was tainted by accusations that the result was unfair — because 36-year-old Paul had received professional voice training. Shy Paul has admitted getting tips from his hero — legendary Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti. And he has even performed in front of 15,000 music fans — backed by the world-renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. But speaking to The Sun in his first in-depth interview last night, he insisted: “I’m no pro. I’ve never hidden anything. “I am what I am — a hidden talent working a normal day-to- day job. And I’ve never been paid for any of the opera work I’ve done before — if only!” Paul, who shares a modest home with wife Julie-Anne in Port Talbot, South Wales, also revealed he GRAFTED 13-hour days to fund singing lessons. And he told how he began singing to escape vicious BULLIES, FEARED he’d never sing again after two terrible accidents, and was SNUBBED by the opera elite. Paul decided to pay for his own lessons after snooty opera agents ignored his flood of tapes. He said: “I worked from 7am until 8.30pm to get as much money as possible for lessons. “I don’t mind doing manual work. I’ve got a degree but it didn’t get me a white collar job so I just took what I could.” After months of hard graft, Paul took six months off in 2000 and headed for Italy and one of its famed opera schools. While there he sang in front of Pavarotti — and made such an impression the heavyweight star singled him out for praise. Beaming with pride, Paul said: “It was one of the highlights of my life. I had to pay for the masterclass — but I had to audition first and I couldn’t believe I’d even got through.
